10:45 am. Cole bursts into his classroom at the start of his school day. “I can’t wait to use the sewing machine today: a REAL sewing machine! Do you know that a sewing machine is a MACHINE? And I’m going to get to use it all by myself!”

You seem really excited about using the sewing machine. What else do you like about your classroom?
I love math and science experiments. Everyone gets to do experiments. We just did one on weight that used blocks and water. I thought the wood would sink! We have a greenhouse here and I like to plant plants in it. My mom helps out a lot with it. Oh, and my favorite thing is the “big” playground. We get to play on it when it’s Extended Day time.

It has rubies and diamonds in an African mine. We dig them up and put them in little bags. We’ve already found 150!

Cole takes a turn stroking a Crawfish.

I also like art class. We have a new teacher, Nicole. She lets us draw awesome animals. We just drew a giraffe! Mine had a really long neck.

Last week we went to the grocery store and learned all about where the food comes from and how it gets here. We got to go in the places that normal people can’t go!    Ruth Ann has been teaching us about what kind of food is good for our bodies.

So, you say you like math. Do you think you’ll be a scientist someday?
I would think so. I can tell you how big infinity is…. 572,855,895,500, and a thousand seventy- eight.

Cole and a friend work on their factors of 5.

What’s the favorite part of today?
I have licorice in my lunchbox! It’s red, black, and green.

How about next year? Are you looking forward to it?
Oh, yes. Vicki and Dave are really nice. I like to do homework. Actually, I LOVE to do homework.
