Admission Information for the Middle School



Montessori Middle School Admission

Middle School Schedule for 2009-2010

Grades 6 - 8 8:30 - 4:00 Monday
8:30 - 3:00 Tuesday - Friday

Application Procedure for the Middle School

  1. Observation of the Montessori Middle School program by a parent.
  2. A discussion of the program with the Head of School or a Middle School teacher.
  3. Submittal of the application form and $50 fee.
  4. Parents sign a release for the student's school records and two teacher references.
  5. Submittal of the student's school records and two confidential teacher recommendations.
  6. The student spends several hours visiting the Middle School classroom.
  7. The student meets with one of the Middle School teachers so that the teacher can evaluate the student's academic level, study habits and comfort with the social environment.
  8. Students will be accepted according to the above guidelines when a space becomes available.


Enrollment Guidelines for the Middle School

  1. Preference is given to students who have attended MSE or other Montessori schools for the Primary and/or Elementary years.
  2. Preference is given to students whose younger siblings are enrolled at Montessori School of Evergreen.
  3. Interest by parents in a Montessori education for their student is considered.
  4. Balancing the class by age and sex of students is considered.
  5. Ability of the student to function within the independent Montessori work environment in a successful fashion.
  6. Ability of the student to meet the academic requirements of the program.
  7. Ability of the student to adapt to the social responsibilities of the program.
  8. Acceptance of a new student into Montessori Middle School does not guarantee that his/her sibling who has not attended Montessori School of Evergreen will be accepted into the school.
  9. MSE admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
  10. Handicapped students and those with special needs are accepted at MSE if the Head of School, teachers and parents feel the student's needs can be met within the MMS setting.

Bus Service

Bus service will be available from Bergen Park and Troutdale. Requests for bus service should be made at the time of registration.
