Giving FAQ

  • Why does MSE fundraise?

Often the gap between tuition income and operations for an independent school is 10-15%. That gap exists for a variety of reasons, such as moderating overall tuition increases, budgeting for tuition assistance, and creating reserve funds for major endeavors. A gap also is a perfect space for tax deductible contributions. You can read more here about Colorado’s childcare tax credits.

  • How much should I give?

Families, friends, grandparents, and alumni of the school are invited to make a personally significant gift to support MSE in the important work of educating our new leaders of the 21st century. Every gift—no matter the size—makes a difference in the lives of our students.

  • What is the importance of 100% donor participation at MSE?

100% participation in either the Annual Campaign or Auction sends an important message to foundations, grant-makers, and our community at large that we believe in MSE. Your participation matters more than the size of your gift.

  • What are the benefits of giving?

    • You are helping pay the faculty who deliver the unique program that is MSE. You are also contributing to the future of our school.
    • The cost between the operating expense of the school and tuition revenue must be balanced.
    • Donations help keep tuition as affordable as possible to ensure inclusivity.
    • Fundraising helps give everyone the opportunity to support the school at a tax-deductible level (CO tax credit)
    • In an effort to promote philanthropy to nonprofit organizations that provide quality child care in Colorado, the state offers a special 50% income tax credit to taxpayers who donate to qualifying programs. Your MSE Annual Campaign donation can be designated for this huge incentive!  This is in addition to other state and federal tax deductions.

Thank you for making MSE possible!
