Developing a Global Understanding

Meeting adolescent development

Middle School is designed to meet the changing developmental needs of the adolescent. Our 7th & 8th Year program aligns with Montessori best-practices for this age, and combines challenging academic preparation with experiential education. Individualized math groups, integrated humanities, hands-on science, and a wide-array of specials and electives comprise the school schedule.

Local, national & international field studies

Field studies are a vital part of the curriculum for the adolescent. Trips such as peak climbs and 10th Mountain Division hut trips, foster teamwork and deepen students’ understanding of leadership. National and international trips are a critical part of our middle school curriculum to developing global citizens.

Supporting adolescent emotional development

Students’ self-esteem is fostered through academic success as well as real-life learning through internships, mentorships, service-learning projects in the community, participation in school businesses, and leadership opportunities that our nurturing school provides. The faculty build relationships with each student and expect them to be accountable for their learning in, and out, of the classroom. The genuine support our faculty gives the students serves to buoy them through the vulnerable Middle School years.

Our graduates in the world

MSE graduates consistently demonstrate readiness to excel in the high-schools they attend. Our graduates report they are confident and well-prepared in their schoolwork. Their high-schools report that MSE graduates are the first students to raise their hands in class to offer their insights, advocate for themselves with teachers, demonstrate emotional maturity, and get involved in sports, community service and other extracurricular activities. In short, they excel in high-school, college, and career because of their experiences at MSE.

“We have been at this school for 5 years and our three kids have been enrolled since they were toddlers. I can not express how grateful we are for this community”
